At WellSouth we aim to improve health outcomes for people in the Southern district. To achieve this aim, we are looking for a registered health professional to join our expanding team of Health Improvement Practitioners, working to improve the wellbeing of people in the community.

Health Improvement Practitioners provide immediately accessible, evidence-based interventions to individuals and their families to help improve their mental health and physical wellbeing.

You will be working as a fully integrated member of the general practice team, supporting people to identify health related concerns, and then collaboratively developing a plan that helps them reach their goals. This role is based on the behavioural health consultant model and has been adapted to our diverse New Zealand culture.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Be willing to embrace new ways of working.
  • Have a helpful, flexible, positive, and adaptable disposition.
  • Thrive in a busy and client-focused team.
  • Be able to work at a fast pace and maintain a flexible schedule.
  • Be a registered nurse, psychologist or psychotherapist with a current annual practicing certificate.
  • Have a history of working with diverse patient groups from all ages.
  • Have a basic understanding and awareness of how general practice works.

Experience working in a mental health setting is desirable. Qualifications in CBT or ACT would be considered an advantage. You will be well supported in this role, initially receiving a full week’s training followed by six-months post training support and mentorship.

We strongly value your growth and development as a Health Improvement Practitioner, and you will receive additional professional development to support you in this new role.

At present we are able to employ occupational therapists, nurses, social workers and DAPAANZ registered clinicians into this role.

If this sounds like the role for you, then come and join our expanding team of Health Improvement Practitioners and make a difference in the wellbeing of people in the community.

Please note that we don’t always work to fixed closing dates & may interview candidates as their applications are received.

Applications close 5pm Sunday 28th August 2022.
